Subject of the mantra - In the first mantra of fifth hymn Indra (God) is being elucidated as having virtue of touch by the word ‘Indra’.
Etymology and English translation based on Anvaya (logical connection of words) of Maharshi Dayanad Saraswati (M.D.S)- -
He=O! (stomavāhasaḥ)= Praiseworthy virtuous or those getting admirations, (sakhāyaḥ)=being friendly with all, (vidvāṃsaḥ)=scholars, (yūyam)=you, (sarve)=all, (militvā)=having met, (parasparam)=among themselves, [aura]=and, (evam)==in this way, (prītyā)=friendly, (mokṣa)=knowledge of salvation, {(śilpavidyāsampādanodyoga-āniṣīdata)}=practising craftsmanship well with efforts, (tadartham)=for him, (indram)= God or air charged with electricity, [aura]=and, (abhipragāyata)= listening to his qualities for the accomplishment of knowledge, (sakhāyaḥ)=all being in cordiallity, (evam)=in the same way, (punaḥ)=again, (sarvāṇi)=all, (sukhānyeta)= get happiness well.
English Translation (K.K.V.) -
O praiseworthy virtuous or those getting admirations, being friendly with all, scholars! All of you, together lovingly practicing the special knowledge of salvation and the science of craftsmanship with great diligence, preach and listen the God’s teachings for the accomplishment of learning or use the wind with lightning and its virtues. Being friendly with all of you, like this again, get all the happiness well.

Unless human beings leave obstinacy, deceit and pride and do not make efforts with whole body, mind and money to do charity by mutual friendship with the truthful love, their happiness and good qualities like learning, they can never progress.
