(4) May here be satisfaction for you. (5) May here be satisfaction for oneself. Svaha. (6)
Notes -
According to the ritualists, the Adhvaryu and the sacrificer whisper this mantra in the right ear of the horse. There after the horse (who must not be less than 24 years or more than a hundred years old) is loosed towards the north-east to wander free for a year (or for half a year, or still shorter time) as a sign that his master's paramount sovereignty is acknowledged by all neighbouring princes. The wandering horse is attended by. a hun dred young warriors, sons of princes or of high court officials, well-armed and ready to protect him from any harm whatsoever. During the absence of the horse an uniterrupted series of pre scribed ceremonies is performed at the sacrificer's house. Aśvaḥ, hayaḥ etc. are the synonyms of aśvaḥ, only differ ing in the sense. Most of them have been derived from verb roots meaning motion or speed. Mayaḥ, pleasant to ride upon. Nrmaṇaḥ, pleasing to men's hearts. Vṛṣā, virile; stallion. Yayuḥ, motive force; fond of run ning. Śiśuḥ, analyzer; young. Also, a colt. Ādityānām patvã, flight of the suns; or the path of the suns. Āśāpālāḥ, fulfillers of hopes. Also, guarding deities of the regions. Dhṛtiḥ, संतोष:, contentment; patience.
