Subject of the mantra - Nevertheless, God has revealed the nature of Sun world in this mantra.
Etymology and English translation based on Anvaya (logical connection of words) of Maharshi Dayanad Saraswati (M.D.S)- -
He=O! (śatakrato)= The braves who do innumerable deeds or those of the sun world, (puruṣavyāghra)= tiger among humans, (yathā)=as, (ghanaḥ)= Firmly and with difficulty obtained materially, (sūryyalokaḥ)=sun-world, (asya)= The water-sap of all the evident and virtual worlds, (pītvā)= after drinking, (vṛtrāṇām)= Like clouds of happiness or clouds of enemies, (meghāvayavānām)= to the components, (hananam)=piercing, (kṛtvā)= by doing, (sarvān)=all, (oṣadhyādīn)=herbs etc. (padārthān)=substances, (prāvaḥ)=protects, (ca)=and, (yathā)=as, (svaprakāśena)=by own luminosity, (sarvān)=all, (prakāśate)=enlightens, (tathaiva)=in the same way, (tvamapi)=you too, (sarveṣāṃ)=to all, (rogāṇām)=diseases, (ca)=and, (duṣṭānām)= wicked, (śatrūṇām)=of enemies, (nivārakaḥ)=preventive, (bhūtvā)=being, (asya)=of this, (rakṣakaḥ)= protector, (abhavaḥ)=be, (evam)=in the same way, (vājeṣu)=in wars, (duṣṭaiḥ)= of the wickeds, (saha)=with, (pravarttamānam)=engaged, (dhārmikam)=righteous, [aura]=and, (vājinam)= fighters, (śūram)=of braves, (prāvaḥ)=protects, [vaha]=He, (prakṛṣṭatayā)=prominently, (sadaiva)=always, (rakṣako)=protector, (bhava)=be.
English Translation (K.K.V.) -
O who do innumerable deeds or those of the Sun world, tiger among humans, that is, braves! Like, having attained with firmness and difficulty materially by drinking the watery-juice of all the evident and virtual worlds of Sun-world by piercing the clouds of happiness like a cloud, or by destroying the components of the clouds of enemies, protects all the herbs etc. and just as He illumines everyone with His light, so you too, being the preventer of all diseases and evil enemies, be its protector. In such wars, He protects the righteous engaged with the wicked and the warriors who fight. May He be always the protector prominently.

There is latent simile as a figurative in this mantra. Just as the man who fights righteously with the wicked, he alone wins and no one else. And God is also a helper only to those who fight righteously and not to others.
